I heard this recently from Dr Phil Jauncey. Even though it was presented at a business meeting, so much of it relates to most aspects of life.
His 4 reasons for failure are:
- You don’t know what to do
- You don’t know how to do it
- You don’t have the ability to do it
- Its a choice
When it comes to the exercise thing, why do people choose not to, when the reasons to exercise are there? Most people know what they have to do and have the ability to do it.
One of the reasons is people saying that they don’t feel motivated to exercise.
Well, I believe the following to be true about almost everything in life.
You don’t have to feel good to act good, but when you act good, it feels good!
I ask people which is better - to feel great before the workout or after? When people think about it, the answer is always after the workout.
It really doesn’t matter how you feel beforehand, because you will always feel great when you are done!
So do it anway!

A couple of our members and good friends of ours, Anthony and Sue, had a car in Wintersun for the first time. We were lucky enough to cruise around on Saturday with them.
Couldn’t get the grin off Anthony’s face all weekend!

I have been asked nearly everyday by our members whether I have posted Super Saturday pictures yet.
Finally, here they are!
This is the group exercise relaunch class to celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary. The theme for the class was “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue”
At the same class last year, we got married!
As always huge thanks to everyone that dressed up and made our special day extra special!

Brrrr!
1. It gives you some personal time, time to focus on yourself rather than others.
2. The power of association - you’re more likely to feel like exercising with other around you that want to do the same.
3. Your exercise program/plan is weather proof and safer, without magpie swoops or traffic.
4. With a fitness professional to guide you, less chance of injuries, more chances of results.
5. You have more options.

The concept of social significance has always intrigued me. I believe that we have an innate need to feel as though we belong to something, that we fit in somewhere and that we are important.
Most people have heard Twitter by now. For those that haven’t, Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages. People write short updates, often called “tweets” of 140 characters or fewer. These messages are posted to your profile or your blog, sent to your followers, and are searchable on Twitter search.
For the most part, people tweet about random stuff. Some people try to use it to sell things, others simply to let people know that something has changed on their website.
For me, there are 2 things that keep me attached to Twitter. The first is the notification that I have picked up new followers. A follower is someone that receives your tweets, like a subscriber. The second is when I get a response to something that I have posted. I like the thought that someone out there actually knows I am here and reads my stuff!
There are lots of ways to get new followers, and some people unashamedly will follow anyone with the possibility of getting them to follow back. It would be easy to collect a bunch of spamming auto tweetbots as followers, and kid yourself that the world is actually listening to you.
I am fairly particular about whom I follow. I look for those people who are primarily local(Australia), have good days and bad days and have opinions. I want to get to know the person behind the tweets! I also follow tweets about World of Warcraft (another post in its own right!), coffee and marketing.
People that turn me off are the ones that are obviously not even reading the stuff that they are tweeting or those that are only trying to sell me something. I would rather not even have them as followers, just for the sake of bragging rights.
What has all this got to do with Fitness Attitude, our fitness centre? (more…)

Kady’s expecting triplets in a week or so. We have started a small collection of baby things to make her life a little easier. Members have donated clothes, nappies, etc. If you would like to leave something for her, please let us know!

We often bump into people at the supermarket. When they are Fitness Attitude members or ex members, it is funny that some feel compelled to tell us why they have not been for a while, or how they are still walking or exercising on their own.
It feels that some people almost think that we have been following them like some guilty conscience. Chances are that, if you have seen us in the supermarket, we are just out shopping, and that milk in our trolley is not a decoy, but we really need milk!
So, if your conscience is giving you a hard time, maybe you should come and see us again!

Got back from nearly a week in Sydney, and this was on the whiteboard near my desk. I know that Kylie has muscles and a six pack, but I was given muscles too, and that made me smile.
Awesome drawings were by our niece Frankie and are very cool!

I was in Sydney at the FILEX (fitness and leisure expo) business day and we were challenged to think about what makes our place unique.
They asked about what we thought our competition was. I used to think about other centres in the area, but I actually think that our biggest competition, the “things” that would stop people coming to see us, are actually television, beer/Bundy and family. These are the things that will often make people think less about how much they hate looking in the mirror.
What I ended up with was:
I work with real people, who have difficulty with bad habits and inconsistency, who would like to feel younger. What separates me from tv, beer/Bundy and family is that I will work extra hard to keep the dream alive.
Shhh! Haven’t told Kylie yet, so keep it to yourself!

Heard a story about a dog lying on someone’s front porch.
The dog was moaning and groaning.
A passer-by noticed the dog moaning and groaning and asked the owner what was wrong with the dog. The owner replied that the dog was laying on a nail.
The passer-by asked why the dog didn’t move.
The owner replied that the dog wasn’t hurting enough to move, just enough to moan and groan.
The story reminded me about how many people put up with not being happy with their physical bodies, moaning and groaning to their partners and friends, instead of doing something about it.
For most people, I don’t actually think this is a laziness thing, I just don’t think that people know what to do next. That’s where we come in!
Get off the nail, and give us a call!
